The wound is the place where the Light enters you — Rumi

Kristen Bredar, Colorado somatic therapist - nervous system healing

Welcome!

I’m Kristen, a holistic psychotherapist in Colorado.

I support clients with complex trauma, OCD, and anxiety utilizing an approach that honors the wisdom of body, mind, and soul.

Our work together will support you to feel safer, more connected, and empowered, so you can step into the life you long for.

A minimalist still life with a wooden container on a tray, a glass vase with green leafy branches, and a light background.

I believe mental health symptoms come from unprocessed pain and trauma, and from living out of alignment with our true selves.

When we are brought to our knees in suffering, life demands us to meet ourselves in a new way, leading us on a path towards healing and wholeness.

In our work together, you’ll experience safety and compassion, where all parts of you are heard and honored. I’ll listen deeply, guide and support as we process painful experiences, offer encouragement and regulation tools, and empower you.

It’s my greatest honor to walk beside you as you build resilience and create a life that feels more joyful, fulfilling, and meaningful.

Trauma lives in the body, not just the mind. If you feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, overwhelm, or shutdown, your nervous system may be in survival mode. My approach to trauma healing is gentle, body-centered, and non-retraumatizing, using Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you regulate your nervous system, release stored survival responses, and reconnect with a deep sense of safety and wellbeing.

OCD can make you feel trapped in cycles of doubt causing high levels of distress. I use Inference-Based Cognitive Therapy (I-CBT)—a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps you break free from OCD without exposure therapy. This 12-module program teaches you to trust your reasoning, reduce compulsions, and reclaim your sense of self and inner trust. Trauma often plays a significant role in the OCD picture, and addressing it heals both the compulsions and the deeper emotional wounds.

Anxiety and depression are often symptoms and signs that something deeper within your psyche is shifting. Many times, when old patterns stop serving you, your body responds by signaling the need for change. Life transitions often highlight areas of our lives that are ready for change. Using somatic and IFS therapy, we will explore what feels stuck, helping you regulate your nervous system, heal inner conflicts, and move toward a more aligned and integrated self and life.
